These photos are from the first ever FSC Summit, put on by the Free Speech Coalition and held at the Sofitel Hotel in Beverly Hills. As this adult industry summit was held just two days after LA County Measure B was passed, the timing was ideal and probably contributed to the high attendance even though there did not seem to be a lot of pre-show advertising. Topics discussed included emerging world markets, the story behind Measure B and what will happen now as well as diversification of marketing of adult products. I had a prior engagement scheduled so I could not stay until the end, but there will be an awards presentation later.

I only heard about this event two or three days ago so I was pleasantly surprised at the attendance which seemed to be between 200-300 people. The panelists included the lobbyists that presented their ideas on what is on the horizon for the adult industry. One might be surprised to learn that the sky is not falling . . . yet. The fight against Measure B proved that the adult industry has friends in the mainstream, but they need to discontinue the policy of trying to stay under the radar. I am happy to announce that PimpsPromo will be attending and photographing the upcoming adult trade show, XBIZ 360° Adult Entertainment Conference and the XBIZ Awards. The event is scheduled to run from January 9-12, 2013 at the Sofitel Hotel in Hollywood; with the XBIZ Awards being held at the Century Plaza Hotel in Century City on January 11, 2013.

Formerly known as XBIZ LA, last years event included multiple events at different locations. This year the adult trade show has been renamed XBIZ 360° and while there are still the film/content, sex toys and the brick-and-mortar/e-commerce products sub-conferences, they have all been integrated with the conference for adult Internet marketers to all be held at the same location; thus XBIZ 360°. This show will cover all aspects of the adult industry.

Rankings for XBIZ LA pics

The 2013 XBIZ Awards will be held at the luxurious Century Plaza Hotel and hosted by porn superstar, Tera Patrick. This year there will be over 150 categories under the Movies & Production, Pleasure Products, Web & Technology, Retail & Distributions groups with four special honoree awards. If history is any indicator, this should be a fun event. These photos are from Wednesday at the adult entertainment B-to-B event, XBIZ LA. The day began with a mix and meet market, which is the substitute for the days of yesteryear when adult shows had large rooms with dozens of large booths. Now it is more intimate and cost effective to have the smaller set up for an hour or two of booths instead of three days. I guess YNOT can get credit for pioneering them back in San Diego. After the Mix & Meet, we had lunch at Simon LA again, followed by another Speed Networking session.

The panels included an anti-piracy discussion with Allison Vivas of Pink Visual and Doug Lichtman, a UCLA Law Professor who is an expert on patent and copyright law, telecommunications regulation and general legal issues pertaining to technology firms and the Internet. It was enlightening to say the least. The keynote was a discussion between Colin Rowntree and Ron Cadwell, which was very entertaining. The day ended for me with the State of the Industry panel, 3 Minute Showoffs and the AWE cocktail reception. (more…)
