These photos are from day two of the adult industry trade event, XBIZ 360, which is being held at the Sofitel Hotel in Hollywood, CA. XBIZ 360 is a new concept for XBIZ in which they are combining six trade shows into one; with day one consisting primarily of the Adult Retail Conference and the Pleasure Products Conference and day two being the Film/Content Conference and the Digital Media Conference.

The Film/Content side of the conference had panel discussions of topics including Top-Selling Genres in Adult Entertainment Today and Adult Entertainment Delivered: The New Spectrum of Distribution; while the Digital Media Conference included Speed Networking and a very entertaining discussion by Brad Gosse on Selling Adult Entertainment in Today’s ‘Free’ Economy. If you ever have an opportunity to hear Brad talk, take advantage of it. He has a “no punches pulled” style that is just as informative as it is entertaining. There were two keynote speeches given, one by XBIZ founder and CEO, Alec Helmy for the Digital Media side; and John Stagliano for the film/content side. As I have been involved with Helmy Enterprises almost from the beginning of my time with the adult industry, I found it interesting to hear his perspective and thoughts of the future for adult. As we approach Thanksgiving and the Christmas holiday season it is easy to forget that not everyone has it as good as you do. In today’s economy those that are unable to afford even a Christmas tree, much less something under it, is higher than ever. This also effects the amount of donations received by charities set up to help the underprivileged. Luckily, for a relatively few families, Angels Giving Tree is there to help.

Established in 2011 and run by a couple adult industry veterans, Angels Giving Tree has the goal of helping as many families with children at the holidays as possible. Last year they raised $10,000 and helped give a better Christmas to about 200 children. Angels Giving Tree is a registered Not For Profit organization in Florida and they have applied for their 501(c)3 with the IRS.

The concept was started several years ago when Pattyecake and Todd “SexToyKing” Oster held their annual toy drive. In 2011 Todd died and Forest of Silver Cloud Design decided to take the ball and run with it. Local charitable organizations provide suggestions of families with children that need help and Angels Giving Tree uses the donations they receive to find and deliver the gifts to those that will truly appreciate it. When ICM Registry was promoting the idea of the .xxx top level domain extension one of the perks that was heralded to potential buyers was the implementation of a search engine specifically for .xxx domains. That day has arrived with the launch of the .XXX search engine.

Originally scheduled to launch on September 28, press releases had been sent out to the mainstream media prior to the 28th and the media could not risk being scooped, so many of them announced the launch ahead of time. This resulted in ICM releasing the search engine a little early so they could take advantage of the additional traffic they, and the .xxx domain owners, might receive.

Unlike other “porn specific” search engines that have been attempted in the past, the .XXX search engine will only crawl domains with the .xxx extension. According to the Search.XXX Policies and Principles page, the search engine will crawl developed .XXX websites that contain adult entertainment content only. If the domain is parked, it will not be crawled. While it does not crawl dotcoms, they do give instructions on how to forward your .xxx site to your .com using your DNS “A” record so you can still take advantage of their traffic. (more…)
