YNOT Summit: last minute discounts

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

As I announced a few weeks ago, PimpsPromo will be attending the upcoming YNOT Summit 2011, to be held June 23 – 25, 2011 in San Francisco. If you have yet to purchase your passes for the show or made your hotel reservations, this reminder is targeted towards you.

First off, the show passes are currently $179.99. If you use the discount code of “FCX” (minus the quotation marks) you will save $45. I am not sure how long they are going to keep this code active, so once again, I urge you to get your passes as soon as possible. At the door, the price will be $249.99 and no discounts will be available. Unlike prior years, you will not be able to get into any of the off site parties and events without a show pass. The Smash Up Derby opening party and Kink in the Castle are two events to not be missed, so get your passes.

Secondly, room rates are probably going up. YNOT Summit arranged for room rates of $149/per night provided you made your reservations by June 1, 2011. I screwed up and waited until today to make my reservations. Instead of using the online reservations, I called the Holiday Inn reservation line at (800) 972-3124, and they accepted the group code of “CYN” to get the discounted rate. I do not know if it would have worked online or not, but their website indicated the rate would have likely been $190/night. To be safe, I would suggest calling and do it immediately as I do not know how long they will honor it. (more…)

PimpsPromo to be Media Sponsor at YNOT Summit 2011

Saturday, May 7th, 2011

PimpsPromo is happy to announce we will be a media sponsor at the upcoming YNOT Summit, formerly known as Cybernet. The adult webmaster, B2B event will be held in San Francisco, from June 23-25, 2011 at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway Hotel. Registration rates are currently $179.99 through June 22. At the door, the price will be $249.99, so it is a good idea to register early.

The last time I went to this show was 2008. It was the first year at the new location, and I recall it was not only fun with the Rock The Ball and the tour of the new Kink headquarters, but there were informative seminars and workshops as well. Their Show and Sell was reminiscent of their original Corridor Cruising from the San Diego days. The only reason I missed the last two years was due to scheduling conflicts. This year, I made it the priority.

I spoke with LAJ about the show schedule and was informed that they will be kicking things off with a workshop at noon on June 23, the opening day. There will be a wide selection of seminars, classrooms, workshops, demos and special addresses running all three days of the show. Additionally, they are adding two new networking events that have not been done before at other shows. I can not tell you more because that is all I have at this time. It could be a dunk tank featuring Stuart Lawley, but that would be pure speculation. In short, there will be something for everyone, whether a program owner or and affiliate, a veteran or a n00b. Oh, and they will have an exclusive party every night. (more…)

ICM, IFFOR and Irvine

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

A couple of weeks ago, it was announced that Joan Irvine, the Executive Director of the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP), was stepping down from her position with ASACP to take on the position as Executive Director of the International Foundation for Online Responsibility (IFFOR). I will admit, when I first read this news my initial thoughts were [in order] no way, bullshit, maybe this is the logical choice.

Naturally, on GFY, people were up in arms. Just as naturally, most of those complaining had done nothing about defeating the implementation of the .xxx sTLD. Even more clamor was raised by those that are never going to be affected by .xxx. The mob mentality was rampant. People that really have no clue what the issues are jumped on the bandwagon, presuming that the GFY crusader(s) knew something more than they did. A lot of speculation and theorizing made up most of the arguments.

Since I have some of the loudest of the mob leaders on ignore, I did not read all the claims made. If it was not for the fact that I received emails apologizing for getting me involved, along with Twitter and Facebook messages suggesting that for some reason I had to be involved in some way, I would not even be writing this article. Luckily, I am in the position of not caring if someone does not approve of my thoughts on the matter. Rather than have my thoughts buried by trolls, I have decided to put them here. (more…)
